More than 2.4 million SOPA-related tweets were sent between 12 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET Wednesday, Twitter announced.
The top five terms that day were SOPA, Stop SOPA, PIPA, Tell Congress and #factswithoutwikipedia.
During the protest, online services such as Wikipedia and Reddit went offline for the better part of the day, and other major web players, such as Google and Facebook, also expressed their disapproval of the bills.
